The #BigKnit 2013
(Sorry about the poor quality photo - most hats are in progress at the moment and none have their bobbles on yet!)
Have you ever been browsing the shelves in the supermarket on the lead up to Christmas and come across the Innocent smoothies with the little knitted hats on? I got myself one last year and loved the little hat that I received, and thought what a wonderful idea.
This year, me and mum have decided to join in with the Big Knit 2013, helping Innocent Smoothies get handmade knitted hats for their bottles. For every bottle sold with a hat on it, 25p will go to Age UK to help the elderly heat their homes this winter. Every year elderly people die from the freezing conditions in the UK and lack of money means they cannot afford to heat their homes. This has to stop. These people shouldn’t be faced with the choice of eating or being able to heat their homes and they need our help! If you’re a crafter and you would like to help with the Big Knit, you still have a few weeks left (all hats need to be with Innocent by the 31stOctober). Visit this website and find out more information about how you can get involved. It’s not just knitting either, there are crochet pattens available too.
If you aren’t a crafter the best way you can help is buying the drinks with the little hats on! It’s a cute way to get your drink and you’ll be helping Age UK help the elderly this winter. If you do get a drink with a hat on, then I would love to see your photo – I want to know if someone gets one of ours! Tweet me photos @loveamybecca and #LoveAmybeccaBigKnit
Let’s help look after the elderly and keep them warm this winter.
