Love is like a Butterfly
Today’s post is a brand new one for me, stamping by myself for what is essentially my third ever tag and today the theme is the butterfly. Yesterday I took myself off to Hobbycraft, picked up some stamping essentials and came home and tried everything I had been taught. Alas, I didn’t have any of the wonderful Tim Holtz Distress Inks (however I will be ordering myself some tonight!) but I did give it a good go!
First of all I cut myself out a tag, and decided on some colours. I went with green and purple, possibly my two favourite colours to pair together, and started to blend the colours onto the card until I was happy with the outcome.
On some separate card I had stamped both purple and green separately. I used this card to punch some butterfly shaped cut outs and added the green one you see above. I also added a plastic ‘With Love’ tile.
The next step was to add another butterfly on top of the green butterfly. I had a piece of card, stamped in purple, using a stamp which read ‘love’. I stuck this on top of the green butterfly to add a little more depth to this area of the tag.
As you can see, further up the tag I had begun to trail my cut out butterflies…
For the top of my tag, instead of ribbon, I used a purple soft wire (I don’t know if it has an official craft name) and I bent it so it formed zig zags. The only inspiration behind this was I wanted to make it just look a bit different from a standard tag.
On the top left hand side of the tag, I added a heart shaped embellishment which I made myself. I using the stamp which reads ‘love’ and the purple ink I stamped the card and cut out a heart in freehand. I stuck this to the card, added a butterfly to the bottom point and stamped a small peg in the purple, and used it to make it look as though it was holding the heart to the tag.
And here is my finished tag! I didn’t know what I wanted to achieve when I first set out, but I am really pleased with what I achieved on my first solo effort!
I will be entering this tag into the following challenges:
